I am not ashamed about saying that "many of my good friends" work for the CIA. Even so,
and despite the protections that this status provides, I disagree most vehemently with CIA analysis on the ubiquitous "way forward" for democracy. CIA culture is such that, "until things get better," our word must be "flexible." We have no such hangups in NSS-1 or USS -3,2,1.
I must protest, in the strongest terms possible, General Musharraf's decision to cling on to power. Who is he? Where is his father from? The principle is ALWAYS more powerful, in history, than the circumstance. As is, we now need a new land--a new USA perhaps--where the downtrodden of the world, those whose leaders, in the presence of God's spies, denied the concept of minority rights can find solace. It used to be America, where the persecuted and free could roam. Today America has become a corporate slaughter house, replete with the best B students this side of the Atlantic. General Musharraf, be honorable and let true democracy prevail, lest in your greed and/or stupidity, you bring more shame upon those leaders of ours who are too scared of your aburos to challenge your illegitimate rule. I came into power the same week he came into power, the General. It is time for him to go and allow the power of freedom bring change in that part of the world. Look, if I was president of Pakistan, I could bring the level of violence down 40%. But Musharraf seems to have no... agenda... he just wants to cling on to power, supposedly to prevent an Islamic Renaissance. It is disingenuous. No nation on earth can survive without the US, so let Algeria be islamic. It would have been better than Saudi today. Alas, now, they are conspiring to slash all necks all the time. And why? Because our wise men have not reconciled Islam and democracy. It is easy. You can have your muslim country, I say, so long as you respect human rights. We have video tape available for ten victims--women--and then we can manufacture the political will to destroy all hopes of an islamic caliphate in the future. I believe that if you speak with Kenneth Osama Bin Laden, he will voice similar opinions--that islam and democracy are reconcilable. Sir, this is the political solution. Please use it wisely... and resign..
