Can't remember the date, but it was in 1999... a helicopter from the airforce base in Marietta floated by my window at Avalon, just above my neighbor's car (I had none then) and shone its light on my window for five minutes... all I was thinking, while giggling, was how the Mexicans next door would be crouching by the window and saying Heaven knows what... I never thought to think of the American next door... the writer...
