The Nigerian Protocol

Major General Adisa was watching CNN absentmindedly. Now, he did not believe
himself to be absentminded at the time. It is just what happened to him for
several seconds after the anchor continued speaking about the American President's
"impending visit to Nigeria." It was almost a minute before he came to his senses.
"Abuja, come in. This is Grandfather. Abuja, please come in now."
"Yes, hode on. This is Abuja, please state your purpose."
"The... America... the Nigerian Protocol has been optioned..."
"One minute sir..."
Pause...
"This is Adekunle, please repeat for the record..."
"The Nigerian Protocol has been optioned."
"Thank you."

The Colonel turned and looked at himself in the mirror. The American
President was his guest, by international law, for the next twenty
four hours. History began to unfold...
