Literacy c.1999

In 1999 in Atlanta I was informed that literacy was to change drastically because
of a spiraling in the rate of innovation. They said that a person like me was
bound to skew the curve so I was a good thing... I could be part of the engine
of productivity for as long as things were being stabilized. After an emergency
meeting I was informed to choose one hundred symbols and use them as the foundation
of a new language. I chose my hundred, then was given the perfunctory ones by
the requisite groups--fingers, limbs, body parts, those sorts of things. Come 2000
and everybody begins to use their new language. It was bloody. I ended up in DC.
Story for ever. I'm supposed to relate this portion precisely. of DC.

When I was in DC at some point during that first evening I realized that a man
of similar intelligence to me was within blocks of where I was. I took a walk
and eventually met not him but his counterpart, who could otherwise have been
responsible for my death had I not been appraised by relevant systems in the
neighborhood of his arrival. The power of symbolism is only evident when symmetry
differentiates intelligence. Symmetry is a very powerful tool for intelligent
dialog, as you know, and a city like DC can mean a lot of things to intelligent
people during their first visit. If such is true, symmetry and destiny can
bring identical intelligences in communion during that visit as happened with
me and my most memorable trip to DC. My language today is in light years.
