It's not that complicated to figure out. Poverty breeds tension. Why does poverty exist? I would say because of the stupidity of the rich, but that would be imprecise. Is there enough on earth to cater for all? Yes. Clearly, when the rich feel the need to they'll solve the problem. They can, they will, and they must--for they have the most to lose. They have what to lose. However, speaking in this manner, of faceless individuals with sacks of money, has never been helpful. The problem is systematic, but what is really problematic is how to go about changing a system that is hurting but not completely broken. As the signatories to the Declaration of Independence noted, human nature has shown that in lieu of changing a bad system which is not broken, people will suffer until such time they can suffer no more--then, and only then, do we often find the mass will to change the system. The system is not broken, I witness, but capitalism has lost its way. The statistics are very concerning, but no one seems concerned about them who runs a company with a stock ticker. Listen, I'm an immigrant living in the land of my dreams. I don't want to move to Canada, but I will if the injustice becomes unbearable. Daily I see talented sons and daughters of America fending for themselves by doing that which is not dignified in their eyes relative to their talents of gold while the talentless parade themselves on TV and glorify the ability to make money of daft teenagers. They call it American Culture and it has anounced, comedically, that it now wants to rule the world. A New Century her proponents announce. You do not know what laughter is, friend. You do not.
Right now I'm thinking of Alicia Keys. She is an example of a talent of gold having to be less dignified--even though it is harder to come by a more dignified female form than she. That girl can play the piano, but because the talentless execs do not believe the people will get it, they don't push her to live up to her talents. I can only imagine what madness she will eventually come up with when they let her loose, and they will. I am in love with that woman.
Civilizations rise and fall. Western Civilization is on its death bed. And yet, traitor that I am, I enjoy Western Civilization very much and I don't want it to die. Electricity and its implications have caused Pharaohs to think less of how to use Israel to move mountains of men to carry big stones to make big monuments to vanity. Just to show, you see, what one man can do when he puts his mind to it. His name was Ama-Otite-Pu, the original Doctor of the Urhobo Nation long before Urhobo devolved into Oro-Oba and then Y'oro-Oba and then Ni'Iba'ntutu. Western Civilization IS a good idea and a wonderful thing. I, disgraced by the morality of my countrymen, am a card-carrying westerner. Hamburgers, strip-joints and all things pleasurable. In moderation. Grow the fuck up, sinner. These are gods talking.
