Jude Uzonwanne
In the mid-90's, Jude got into a tiff with Wole Soyinka, primarily. The other participants were Mobolaji Aluko, Sola Adeyeye and Ikhide Ikheloa. Nothing will be disputed about my view of this matter, for my judgment took over a decade. On the one hand, the rumors had substance, that Soyinka was participating in treasonable activities. I am a direct witness. If push comes to shove, I can make Jude admit certain things. Don't make it. Awlright, awlright, push has come to shove already. Jude was a top student in those days, as I, watched closely by principalities and powers in the American sphere. We might even say his opinions were considered on par with a C.I.A. analyst. In those days, America's permanent interests involved securing Nigeria. Abacha didn't help. One day I met a quiet young lady at Harvard. We haven't kept in touch much but she asked for help, from anyone, and since I was the U.S's favorite Nigerian pet at the time I helped. I think Abacha was killed. I think Abiola was killed. But I think the Abiola camp won that war. I think that that matter is past us and we should move on, otherwise there are charges of treason to be bandied with relish. What I am saying is that Dr. Adeyeye, Wole's great friend, has acted with stultifying naivete when it comes to matters about the liberation of the black mind. His acts of ommision will singularly sink Nigeria, for his is about the last mind uncorrupted by amala and its implied intellectual laziness. But he doesn't believe it yet. He will.
